James Allen regarded as one of the pioneers of New Age thought in the early 20th century. Allen’s genius and contribution would become globally recognised until after his death in 1912.
A prolific author throughout his life it was Allen’s third book “As Man Thinketh” published in 1902 that brought him the most recognition. As Man Thinketh then went on to inspire the modern day spiritual classic “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne .
The book’s initial success allowed him to retire to the English seaside resort of Illfracome where he continued his writings and metaphysical research and lived with his wife Lily until his death;
“He never wrote theories, or for the sake of writing; but he wrote when he had a message, and it became a message only when he had lived it out in his own life, and knew that it was good. Thus he wrote facts, which he had proven by practice.” Lily Allen
“A man sooner or later discovers that he is the master-gardener of his soul, the director of his life.” James Allen
