As discussed in the previous chapter our lives here are governed by certain immutable Universal Laws. One of these is The Law of Correspondence, sometimes referred to as The Great Law, more commonly known as Karma.
“The basic idea of karma is not punishment. Karma presents the opportunity for development; to make use of opportunities that were not taken advantage of, to fill in gaps of ignorance, to enlarge understanding through experience, to do what should be done.” ~ Seth (Jane Roberts), ‘The Early Sessions’, Session 388.
We don’t start over with a clean slate every time we begin a new life. That would lead no-where, we arrive here with all the knowledge, wisdom, and love for which we have struggled and, worked so hard to earn.
“When you have been back to this virtual reality a few times you get nudged a lot by guidance. Each time you come back initially you know zero but after a many incarnations you will start to be nudged to remind you. Paranormal experiences will pop in your face to speed up your process and so, as you don’t lose the gains you made in previous lifetimes, an attempt is made to bring you back up to speed so you can get to the bit where you were at the last time.” ~ Dr. Thomas Campbell, Physicist
Unfortunately, as well as all the good we have done, the lessons we have learned, and the progress we have made, we also bring with us all the garbage- the karmic debt, the hate, the fear, the guilt, and the prejudices we have accumulated over many difficult and challenging lifetimes.
“Emotional baggage,” which is carried over from the past, colors our perceptions. Likewise, past conclusions and beliefs, based on reasoning that may or may not have been accurate, also tint our perception of reality. Retaining our capacity for reason is common sense, but definite conclusions and beliefs keep us from seeing life as it really is at any given moment. Emotional reactions can be unreasonable, and reason can be flawed. It’s difficult to have deep confidence in either one, especially when they’re often at war with each other.” ~ H.E. Davey, ‘Japanese Yoga’: The Way of Dynamic Meditation
Our entire lives’ experiences, past and present, are stored forever in our subconscious minds. Every deed, thought, and act we have ever carried out, either in this life, or any of our past lives has been recorded for all time. This information is recorded and stored in our subconscious mind in the form of memories. The subconscious mind if undirected then uses that information to dictate our responses, actions and reactions in this lifetime. It is these memories that are being used to create our own individual realities.
In order for us to move on we are continually presented with opportunities to clear karmic debt.
“Every person, all the events of your life, are there because you have drawn them there. What you choose to do with them is up to you.” ~Richard Bach, Author
Unfortunately instead of resolving the problem we frequently get stuck in a loop. Many of us find ourselves repeating the same mistakes over and over again, finding ourselves in the same situations repeatedly as if we were deliberately punishing ourselves for some forgotten guilty act.
Well perhaps we are…
